Frontier Women in Texas
The Museum Committee is compiling a Frontier Women’s Portfolio by asking DRT members to submit a profile of their female ancestor\s who lived in Texas during the republic days. Our objective is to recognize the women who kept the “home together” while many of the men were away fighting for freedom. To the members, if you are fortunate to have a photograph of your ancestor, please share a copy with us, along with information as: when she came to Texas; “why”; where she emigrated from: where she settled: who she came to Texas with — alone, family, group? What family traditions did she bring to share in her new home? Are there other interesting facts and accomplishments relating to her? Please complete the Portfolio of Texas Women and email all your information to firstname.lastname@example.org .
